Back from my gadabouts
The last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic as both my trips away happened around the same time. I went to Liverpool at the start of the month to see Bryan Adams perform an acoustic gig at Liverpool Empire and then this last weekend was spent in London visiting old friends.
The hotels I stayed at offered very different experiences (and were very different prices). I really wasn't planning on staying overnight in Liverpool but, as the train service was unavailable to bring me home, I had to. My budget was tight so I booked into the nearest Travelodge. The room was clean (although the bathroom desperately needed re-grouting) and the staff were pleasant but it was definitely a no-frills place to spend the night and despite the half-naked men wandering the corridors I was quite content. Do email me for further details :-)
My London hotel - the Hilton Euston - was over twice the price of the Travelodge. The room was considerably nicer, more amenities and pristinely clean. The staff were just as pleasant as in the Travelodge; I had to ask to change rooms as there was no mobile reception in the first one and it was no trouble at all to swap. The concierge even brought my luggage up to my new room. Plus there was room service (at an extra cost naturally) which was extremely luxurious for a change. I am not used to being waited on, more like the waiter!
Was it worth it? Yes, for a special occasion the Hilton was a lovely experience
So, why am I rambling on about this?
Well, if you're a business offering services to your customers which business are you? The 'no-frills but gets the job done' Travelodge or the 'bells and whistles for a price' Hilton? Is there a way you can aspire to be the Hilton for your customers without compromising anyone's budget? I know I will be aspiring from now on.

I have completed a few websites recently. I had a pleasant time working with Amanda from PAassistance to get her website up and running for her new venture. I also spent some time playing with new designs, one of which I have added to my portfolio page. It's the last image if you're looking.
I am currently working with a new client, a local gospel church, so am keeping busy. One part of my work that I enjoy (OK it's almost all of it but the accounts) is working with so many varied clients - drama clubs, catering suppliers, photographers and now a church. It gives me so much scope and keeps my design muscles flexing.
Don't forget that I offer a FREE one hour discussion about your needs from a website and what would be suitable for you or your company.
